Ruthie's Show
This weekend I took the kids to go watch my niece Ruthie show her chickens. It’s always so stressful when my kids are showing, so I was really looking forward to getting to just be a spectator.
All checked in…
Nerves are brewing…
Grandpa helping Cora find the girls in the arena.
The first sift…
We literally have no idea what this means…hope it’s a good thing to be on this side of the arena…
Kicking some shavings while we wait…
A quick visit from family.
More waiting as the judge painstakingly goes through everyone’s birds.
Change up! One of Ruthie’s original helpers had to go get interviewed for her calf scramble project, so Carson stepped in.
Now we’re starting to get moved around…no idea if it’s a good or bad thing…
Checking the birds again.
And again…
Jenny was getting wrestling updates.
I seriously don’t know how a parent simply watches from the stands…
I would probably be throwing up somewhere…
moving, moving, moving….but pretty sure they are moving on up! So, I went to get a better angle.
More waiting as the judge decides to do one final check of every single bird in the arena.
The judge decides to give us all heart attacks as it appears he might change up Ruthie’s pen with the one next to hers.
He goes back and forth between them several times.
Checking, checking, checking…
This is so intense!
And then he grabs the mic!
And it becomes super evident how badly Ruthie has been nailed!
Oh sisters…lol…aren’t they great. I keep thinking maybe Carson will offer her her jacket…
Not so much…
I mean…you eventually just have to laugh about it.
And then they announced the Grand Champion, who is standing right beside Ruthie, which means Ruthie has RESERVE!!!
Ahhhhhhh!!!! RESERVE at Montgomery County!!! Holy Moly!!!!
Someone freshened up her shirt for her!
Wing band and drug test.
Congratulations Ruthie!!!! And since I know this is a family project…Congratulations Wieghat Family!!! What a huge accomplishment!
